Adston Construction + Michael Fitzpatrick Architects
The Mercantile Hotel & Bar – Located at 28 Dame Street, the hotel has been a landmark in Dublin since 1835.
The new design is described as ‘Georgian elegance meets contemporary Dublin’, drawing inspiration from nineteenth-century commerce and exploration. The significant conservation and redevelopment of the Mercantile Hotel & Bar aimed to preserve its architectural heritage, which can be seen in the refurbishment of the original facades, the restoration of the sash windows, and the removal of modern alterations, to reveal the building’s true Georgian character.
The team behind the refurbishment includes the Mercantile Group, Adston Construction, Michael Fitzpatrick Architects and Millimetre Design (interiors).
“Throughout the construction and refurbishment process, it was very important to us that it held its unique Georgian and Dublin charm, while bringing a new, modern feel and style that local and international guests will very much appreciate,” said the Mercantile Group’s David Murray.
Setting the standard in construction for over 30 years, Adston Constructions dynamic and innovative approach guarantees clients the very best in project delivery. Over the past few years, along with Michael Fitzpatrick Architects they have been working hard on the transformation of Dublin’s Mercantile Hotel.

New features include: 105 bedrooms, Restaurant menu curated by Stephen Gibson, Bar and Café28.
